The most important component of our work is relationship-building among neighbors. Relationships build the capacity of neighbors to be more effective as civic leaders, parents, students, or providers of other services. WHA seeks to dispel the myth that scientific data defines a community. We believe the community’s strength lies in using the capacity of people who are often labeled as victims, and empowering those who need help. .

Just Us Guys

Youth Organizers for the Westside Health Authority held an overnight workshop for over 50 boys between the ages of 10-14 to discuss and receive counsel for topics that concern “Just the Guys”.  The discussion was interactive with topics of Health, Career, Family and Social choices that can negatively affect young boys as they enter adolescence.  Adult professionals from the fields of Health, Law, Career, and the Clergy attended and facilitated the discussions.  The event began on 12/08 Friday night with the youth camping overnight at the WHA youth office and ended on Saturday evening with a trip to the Chicago Bulls game.     Click here for More Photos  - More details to be provided in the Winter 2007 newsletter
