Accomplishments
- Since inception in 2009, the Every Woman Counts! Breast Health Program has assisted over 1, 565 women on the west side, to receive FREE mammograms and Clinical Breast Exams (CBE) and access to quality health care via our medical partners.
- In 2010, in conjunction with Walgreens, the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago offered 20,000 free flu shot vouchers redeemable at any Walgreens nationwide. WHA was awarded 500 vouchers, for distribution to students, seniors and families most in need within the organizations network and community.
- In 2010, WHA Health Promotions Department launched the Healthy Living Walking Challenge. This annual event is a celebration for those who complete a 10-week walking challenge from April to June. This year's (2011) event celebrated over 100 current walkers and encouraged new walk participants to start or continue a walking program or perhaps launch into a different type of physical activity.
- On September 25, 2010, WHA was awarded the “Let’s Move Award” for the Body & Soul: Healthy Lifestyles Program, by the National Congress of Black Women, Metro Chicago Chapter (NCBW-MCC).
